Anderson "The Spider" Silva, born April 14, 1975, is a Brazilian Muay Thai champion and mixed martial artist (MMA) and the current UFC middleweight champion. He is also the current Cage Rage World middleweight champion, the longest-reigning champion in that promotion. He has competed in PRIDE Fighting Championships, Shooto, and Rumble on the Rock. He holds notable wins over Rich Franklin, Hayato Sakurai, Nathan Marquardt, Carlos Newton, Chris Leben, Travis Lutter, Jeremy Horn and Dan Henderson.

Once a member of Chute Boxe Academy, he later left and formed the Muay Thai Dream Team. As of late November 2006, he formed a new team called Black House (Casa Preta in Portuguese) with Lyoto Machida, Vitor Belfort, Assuerio Silva, and the Nogueira brothers.

MMAWeekly, Sherdog, and Nokaut all currently rank Anderson Silva as the number one middleweight in the world. As of October 25, 2007 Sherdog ranks Silva as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world ahead of Quinton Jackson and Fedor Emelianenko.

Yahoo Sports ranks Silva as the No. 1 pound-for-pound mixed martial artist in the world.
